5th Grade Math Class
Parents and Students
Dear families,
Welcome to the 5th grade math class, I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child and working together to help your child succeed! As parents and guardians, I understand that you are the most important teachers in your child’s life and it is with that understanding that I appreciate the role that you and I play in the partnership to your child achieving the goals set forth for him or her.
I will like to give you a brief overview about myself. My name is Mr. Brandon Knox the new 3rd grade teacher at Burton International Academy. I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade and middle school mathematics. I have been employed with DPS since 2002 before taking a break from teaching in 2010 to explore some other opportunities. The passion and the love I have for children led me back to teaching. I received my bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and My teaching certificate through Wayne State University. I received my Master’s of Art in Teaching degree from Wayne State as well in 2016.
I will be teaching your child Mathematics this school year. I love all the subjects that I have taught and it is my goal to try to take away all fears of learning mathematics. I have very high expectations of myself as a teacher as well as my students and I have found that to be a formula for success. I want this to be an enjoyable year for all of my students but also a productive, challenging and encouraging year.
Communication is a huge part of your child success. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the main office to schedule a conference. You can contact me at (313) 596-3800 or email at [email protected].
Once again, welcome to the 5th grade math class! I know that, together, we can make this a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Knox
